I know this has probably been covered many times, but since there seems to be a number of us switching to braid and/or fireline for the first time, what are the best knots. I plan on using Mono backing so will braid hold a bloodknot to connect to the mono. Also I'd like opinions on terminal tackle knots, I usually use Pallomar.
Thanks in advance

I like using this albright from braid to mono and this improved clinch knot from mono to hook.. i never go braid to hook, always use a mono leader. The advantages of using mono tippet are many. The three most important are as follows imo.. when snagged, replacing a a foot and a half or whatever have you of leader mono is much quicker and easier to manage rather breaking off straight braid lines. Secondly, mono is knot friendly, much rather use a leader changing hooks and lures espically for barreling off a leader for lures used for spincasting spooning and trolling methods. THird most important is mono leader tippet lb. test can be changed from light to heavier at any moments notice for most line shy species etc. type in youtube "DEALERBOATS" I find this guys video tutorials the best.
hope this helps

To attach mono to braid you can certainly use a Uni/Uni knot deal - or do as I like and use the "Reverse Albright."

Look Here at my post halfway down the first page of this thread.

For joining braid to a swivel, I know of no knot any better than the Palomar. Its never failed me - unlike the improved clinch knot - which when tied in my braid even with 10-turns cost me the largest fluke I've ever had the pleasure of hooking.

Oh well.

best, Lep

all the uni knots work well and with low test lines i always do a bimni loop to the leader i have found with the 10 lb and less it sometimes breaks at the knot and for the heavy stuff always albrite if tied it wont fail ya

I use pink ande backing and some weird knot John Knight showed me joining the braid to the mono on all reels. Then I use the same knot to attach the braid to a fluro leader. No swivels. Then ill tie the leader straight to a swivel duo lock snap or just the duo lock snap. I think the swivel adds too much hardware. Though I am worried about line twist now that Ive started fishing those **** Hogy's. This is for artificials.. No stretch.. Hmm.. Dunno if thats a great idea either but I just keep my drag light. For chunking ill tie the braid to a long topshot of mono. 12-15 feet. Pink ande.. then a fishfinder rig or egg sinker with another knot and a bead to stop the sinker and a 2-3 ft fluoro leader snelled with a circle. Thats my weapon of choice.
