Does anyone know of any good books to read on surfcasting for stripers? I fish the north shore of the island and have been looking for a book or two on the subject. I am very new to this and though I've fished a lot over the years, I caught my first bass this year and am eager to read up during long train rides to the city. Please let me know.

At the risk of being repremanded by Noreast saltwater. The best book I have found about Striped bass fishing was put out by saltwater sportsman magazine. I belive the name is Striped Bass fishing it is available through there web site (www.saltwatersportsman.com) or I have seen it at wal-mart. the price is about $25. I read it cover to cover and it is very in depth into many things like biology, habitat, feeding habits, range, ect I feel it was worth the money

The very best book about Stripers and different methods of catching them is THE COMPLETE BOOK OF STRIPED BASS FISHING by noted local author, fisherman and Newsday columnist NICK KARAS. The Lyons Press, Third Edition 2000, lists for 24.95 try amazon.com
