I bought 2 new OMC' outboards over the last 5 yrs. '97 Evenrude 50 spl & a 1999 Johnson 90.
Ive got nothing bad to say about these motors.
had mercs too like them better then mercs.

Also... its going to be the same motor...OMC's venerable 4 cyl. motors are time tested .. Bombadeer will do a better job with quality control issues and such and make improvements over time. I bet your better off with orig. OMC motor.

Those quotes are high, I payed I think $ 400 extra for EXTEND policy couple years back for a new johnson 90, wonder if the FICHT stigma has anything to do with it.
If you dont use the heck out of the motor then these policys arent worth it. I never had to make any claims but the policy sold with the boat so it increased the boats value.
One good thing is the policys cover the powerhead{ mine did anyway}
