There is an article in Northeast BOATING this March about boat thefts.
Theft is a concern to every boater, not just theft of miscellaneous
items, but the theft of the entire boat itself.
According to the article, there were 27,000 boat thefts in 2007. The
article deals mostly with boats on trailers, but all boats, even those
'safe' at marinas are potential targets. The biggest anxiety factor,
made clear by the author, is that there is not enough focus on boat
thefts by enforcement agencies because of the difficulty of tracking
down stolen boats. So, Prevention is the best defense.
How do you secure a boat at the dock ?
