Just curious how many boaters out there have insurance. This topic came up at work. I myself don't have insurance. I'm not in the water this season but I am going to get insurance when I resume boating. I have a 19' Regal Sebring cuddy cabin. What would insurance cost for my boat?

I agree that you really should have insurance. One accident is all it takes to screw your whole life over.

I have a 21? cuddy and pay about $250 for insurance. My policy also has a towing clause. If I get stuck they will reimburse me a certain amount. (I don?t remember the figure right now:rolleyes: )

A years worth of ins for a 19' boat should be nowhere near $300. Just like everything else shop around and make sure your comparing apples to apples. Figure out how much your boat is worth, how much liablity you want and call Ins companies or email em or do the on line quote thing, some one will get back to you real fast.
My 1998 21' Aquasport with 225hp for a season was $270 for $100,000 liability and $12,000 in boat, motor, trailer coverage. I chose to not add any fishing and electronics to keep the rate down and I don't fish the boat this year, I just take it out to show protential buyers.

On my old 23ft Chris Craft I only carried liability because of it's age.
But, for $300,000 liability through Allstate homeowners it was only $78 bucks a year.

Now, with the boat I just got, I carry a FULL marine coverage policy, trailer included and it's less than $600 a year
