Hey guys I have a question for you. What do you normally pay to get your boat detailed in the spring? Im talking about wash, wax, polish. I have a 22cc that im deciding whether or not its worth it to do myself. How much have you payed per foot? or by the hour? to get yours detailed. What exactly did they do when they "detailed" the boat, i know different people use the word loosely. Sorry for all the questions im just trying to get a feel for the subject.

Thanks

detailing

Hello:

Pricing is tough by the foot, all depends on amount of actual 'glass' (flybridges, house, etc) & whether you have riggers, etc?

But 1 thing for sure? Professional detail job to start & end the season makes a big difference in preserving your gelcoat & making the boat easier to wash. There is NO WAY you can duplicate the wheel job that the pros can do...and all those other little areas they 'find'...priceless. I had mine done in October & when we gave her the first wash a few weeks ago, it actually still shines.

Now there's services that remove all your eisenglass, cushions, etc. & really do a top notch job. I'd highly recommend letting the pros do it.

im leaning towards having the pros do it but what have some of you guys paid in relation to what boats you have and what type of work was done

FWIW, it depends on how anal you are about your boat as to whether you or a "pro" can do a better job. Most "pros" can't really spend the time (cost ineffective) to do a really good job, but if you're not really into making your boat the best she can be, then a "pro" might still be worth it.

I agree 100% with what Makomike stated. A paid professional just isn't going to do the same job that an "anal" owner is going to do. Even though my time is in extremely short supply I will still do all the detailing myself and the boat doesn't go in till it's perfect!!!

Anyone have any numbers or recomendations of any of these people/companies in brooklyn? I also need them to do it with the boat in the water. I dont want to pay to have my boat pulled, and I never bought a trailer.
I was too excited to get my boat back in the water after the winter that I just had the hull waxed and fresh bottom paint. But I would love to have the rest detailed.

Detailing

In Brooklyn on my 24WA I had above the rub rail and stern compounded and waxed for $125, it would have been $250 including the deck area. I did the hull myself. Worth it for me, not enough time to do it all.
