No. There is no Suffolk County ramp in Orient. The only Suffolk County ramp I'm aware of is at Smith's Point.

The only ramp in Orient I've heard of is at the private marina of Orient by the sea.

Isn't there a ramp in the park where the land is really narrow with water on both sides of the road? I've never been in that little park that faces the north shore, but I thought I remebered seeing ramp signs when I drove by there?

Not that I know of in Orient, but there is in Greenport at the end of Manhasset Ave. I believe it's technically a Town Of Southold Ramp but is usable by all state residents if you buy a Southold permit. Kind of Like the Town of Riverhead ramp on Peconic Bay Blvd in Jamesport. I think you can buy a non resident town ramp that's specific for that ramp at the same price of a resident permit

thanks everyone, i appreciate it. I'll probably cave in and by the Southold Non Resident....
While i was a Hydrographic surveyor i had a guy out of state doing some computer training, i was GPS locating a boat ramp and i spelled it on mistake with no space, "boatramp". He didnt recognize it and asked what the heck a Boa Tramp is, well....it just kinda stuck and ive been calling it that for years :) i dunno, i think its funny, but the title of my thread got changed so if i offended anyone im sorry

thanks for the info

North fork boat ramps

Mike, the one your thinking of is the NYS DEC Access site, at Oyster Ponds. It's pretty much a useless ramp that is always filled in with rocks and almost impossible to launch on.

The ramp at the end of Narrow River Road is also a NYS DEC Access site. And again, it's a barely usuable stone beach ramp, that I almost got stuck launching my 14' jon boat at.

No permits are needed for either the the Oyster Ponds or the Narrow River Road launch sites, but they are not good for launching a boat of any significant size.

Getting the Southold Town Non-resident permit is costly now, at around $100, but it gives you access to a lot of ramps. Gull Pond at the end of Manhasset Ave, to fish Greenport, or make the run to Orient. But for the $20 launch fee they charge at Orient by the Sea, I think I'd rather save the time, and probably $20 in gas in the boat, to launch at the restaurant when fishing Plum Gut or the Race. New Suffolk also has a nice ramp to fish Peconic Bay. There are a few other boat ramps that gives you access to also, but those are the only two I've used out there.

The DEC also put in a decent boat launch in Mattituck right by the inlet, that is free of charge to everyone, but it has funky hours, so you may want to call the Marine Habitat office at (631) 444-0311 to see what they are now.
