Fishing in J.I. today heard a lot of chatter on the radio about huge schools of 40lb class Bluefin off Long Beach in 50' pushing West. Some described the schools as being a mile square.

I Saw the Tuna

Thursday I was slightly west of the Atlantic Beach Reef and saw them boiling all over the place.
They seem to be chasing very small bait fish about 2 inches in length.

Fish were in the 50-100 pound range and were boiling in the area for several hours.

Tried with a A-17 jig when they got close several times, no luck.

I also saw Bluefin Tuna last week while fishing the Artificial Reef off New Jersey. My friend spent 3 hours trying to troll them, no luck.

Yes they were there, big big school in 50-60' for most of the day yesterday. This is the time of the year the smaller fish are pushing water heading south. I have been anchored on the Jersey reef and had the water explode around the boat and saw all these tuna jumping out of the water. They are very hard to hook because they are mainly pushing water at a high speed.
