Where is the great sandworm supply around here? Where do they come from? How are harvested?

I think they come from up in Maine, harvested at low tide in the mudflats, with pitchforks or another similar tool.

12 a dozen for bloods is too steep for me...that is just ridiculous.

You find sandworms around here. I have found them at low tide in shallow marshes digging through the sand. They are not nearly as big, but they still work!

true you can find sandworms around the island at low tide...bloodworms too I believe, but both are smaller usually then the ones you buy.

You may even get lucky and find a few tapeworms on the flats, now there's a bait.

The commercially harvested sandworms come from maine and a company called "seabait" that farm the worms. They are also native to the area, but they are not commercially harvested around here.

All though I do occasionally dig up my sandworms, it is tough. The amount of work you put in to digging them up is probably not worth the $12.

Their are several species of clam worms. The ones we have here are smaller and less hardy then the ones which are commercially dug in ME.

A movie ticket here is $12. I can have more fun w/ $12 worth of worms).

I found lots of sand worms in the fall last year at sunken meadow. Dont know if they are there at other times. Its probably worth the look considering prices. They were actually swimming in the water within a a few feet from shore
