got to the backside as light showed in the east, nice cool clear morning.started to wade and cast buctails and bombers and was struck by the beauty of my suroundings, the crescent moon in the red orange sky, manhattan in the distance, and NY bight all in front of me. but as it got brighter i began to see everything.from the parking lot entrance out to the jetty i saw a waste land.there were dead sea robins, sandsharks, and skates all over the place.unused bunker was everywhere.plastic bottles and bags and mcdonalds stuff thrown to the side.one kind gentleman offered me a nice big dead sandshark.i told him to throw it back if he did'nt want it.with his unintelligible accent he muttered something about how it was hooked and that i did'nt understand. i guess it's true, ignorance is bliss.

I often fish breezy point. One of the things that atracts me to this particular beach is the fact that there are not many destructive people coming into this area. Unfortunately, there are still a few uncaring persons that have no regard for the sport or the places they fish. Hopefully they will get their just deserved.

it is a shame

the amounts of garbage left on the beach by shore bound anglers is monumental.

no place is spared the wrath of anglers garbage anymore.

was at fire island this past week, commercial bait fishing in the more secluded areas of the island, and the amount of new fishing trash on the beach was amazing.
unopened plastic containers of clams (rotting away), plastic spearing bags, ice bags, used line, worm boxes, rotting bunker, dead sea robins, broken beach chairs, mcdonalds drink containers, everywhere you looked.

i still cannot understand how people can visit such a pristine enviornment and then just sh*t all over it.
are they trying to make it look more like their own home ?

i usually carry a small garbage bag with me to clean up some shore garbage on every trip (while waiting for the tide to be right to haul), this time i could have used 5 bags to clean up in that one location.
i have been coming to these beaches for many years, and due to difficulty in reaching them from land, they were usually in pristine condition,
NO MORE.

it is a crying shame.

reminds me of the commercial from the 70'-80's of the american indian walking down the roadside with a tear in his eye while looking at all the garbage that was thrown out from passing car windows.
makes me want to cry too.

No kidding. :(

Not just Breezy Point. I see that in my favorite spots too. I am so upset whenever I go fish the beach on a night and see the horrible and disgusting works other people left. I saw 8 below 28" stripers fillet with the head and bones, dead sea robins, skates, and trash from all kine fast food. Recently, I saw this a dead sea gull with the head and no body.

I am beginning to see broken glass in the sand. That scares me since I walk the sand bare foot sometimes at night. Now on I wear old sneakers. I can go on and on and on on how mad I am.
