Going to mongaup pond tomorrow night or very early saturday and fishing all day saturday and coming home on sat. night or sun. morning. I know mongaup pond holds some very big smallmouth, like 5 pounds. My dad has hooked one or 2 but they escaped before being landed. The smallmouth we we caught and landed and the bigger ones were caught on live shiners. Are there any other baits that might be worth using for the real big guys. Thanks.

GO with artificials

Big jerkbaits in the 5 to 6 inch range deep suspending or floating deep divers from 5/16 to 1/2 once.
Also big spinnerbaits and tubes work great too.
Hope to see a good report when you get back
