Jackson, why Yozuri line? Is this line better than Big Game? I know Yozuri is not cheap and it is a different kind of line. Thanks for the response. I will check it out.

I asked the question because I saw there are 2 different brand of Big Game. I am wondering if anyone know the differences in them.

Well,I've never tried the Supreme but the rap on it is it's stronger and more abrasion resistant than Big Game. It's also supposed to have less twist and stretch. And it only comes in a clear/silverish color that's real low visibility.
And I've heard it all before.;)

Mono's mono, guys. No matter what they tell you, it all has some stretch, it all has some spool memory. None of it is accurately labeled as far as break strength goes, except for IGFA class line like Ande Tournament. Stuff with the same diameter usually breaks around the same point no matter what they tell you the "pound test" is. Stick to the basic, decent quality stuff like pink Ande and regular Big Game---both around $30 for a one pound spool that should last a full season even for a hardcore---and put the money you have left over towards a new rod or reel.

Pink Ande and Big Game both resist abrasion better than the soft stuff like Yozuri, Jinkai, Trilene XL, Stren etc and so on.

line

I personally use the regular big game - the dark green seems to give an edge as far as visibility goes and it's cheap; not such a big deal with one reel, but re-spooling 8 reels twice a season hurts with expensive line.

Mono is definitly not mono though - the cheaper mono's(ie shakespear "omniflex" or renegade) tend to have lots of memory, break down quickly or bothe. The main problem with mono is that it stretches way too much for some applications; once you've got more than 150 ft off the reel, it's very hard to feel small nips and set the hook.. not a problem for surf fishing though. The yozuri really isn't all that expensive, I've never tried it, but will at some point - it's about $15 for 700 yds of 25 or so... the mono is $8 for about 400 yard (1/4 lb) spools; very little difference. Yozuri doens't offer 1 lb spools as far as I know though. I'm surprised we've had not spider-wire braid suggestions ;)..

JACKSON--did you actually test Yozuri line for all those properties you claim it has, or are you just regurgitating what you read in their ads? Don't bother replying, I know the answer :)

"The only thing between you and your fish is your fishing line. Don't try to save money here-----you may regret it!" ROTFLMAO---you have any other time-worn cliches you wanna pass off as words of wisdom? That from Daignault, Muller, Golofaro or a Stren ad circa 1971 which is where I think I read it for the first time?

I can make you a deal on the Green Island bridge---you can have it for yourself and kick everyone else out. I have a deed right here---wanna read it?

Ande pink and Big Game are the best lines dollar for dollar going. But it's your money---just do us a favor, post from your own experience. We all can read tackle company propaganda.

Oh yeah--I landed one of the biggest bass I ever caught on Shakespeare line back in 1984. It was all I could afford at the time.

listen, i don't want to argue with you. I surf fish mostly and in some strange places. If you check my past posted reports and or past discussion board comments, you will know that i know what i am talking about. The reason why i believe all the yozuri "hype" is because i've experienced it. I lifted a 20lb bass from a bridge 20ft high. I was using yozuri 25lb test and it did not snap. If i was using ande or trilene with a 20lb thrashing fish the line would have popped. I grew up on ande and trilene, but the fact is yozuri line surpasses their performance.

PowerPro for braid--- Silverthread for mono. Tried yozuri & hated it. Very spongy feeling & casted like CRAP !!! I liked trilene but don't have enough experience with it to make a comment. Welcome to the new millenium, use braid & get out of the 1900's with mono !!!

wow !

the next time i go bridge fishing or to kennedy's pier i'll think about trying that yozuri junk. but when talking about real surf casting the knowledgeable ones will use a good 30lb. or 50lb. braid or a quality casting mono like big game or ande.braid for plugging and mono for bait. p.s.i'll take 50lb.big game at the western bridges everytime.
