I'll be passing through the Plum Gut this weekend on a trip from Mount Sinai Harbor to the Peconics, (greener pastures), and I'd like to try for some bass while in the gut. I'll probably be getting to the Gut for the last couple hours of the outgoing. Any advice on how to grab some bass while I'm there?
Thanks!

3 ways with 3-5ft at least 50lb leader. Tie directly to 1.5 oz bucktail with porkrind. Sinkers 12-20oz as the current really rips there. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

Thanks! I am definitely going to try that! How many feet of water? Do you need a leader on the sinker, or right to the bottom?
PS-Thanks again!

Passed through the Gut today, tried the bucktails for a few drifts until the tide bottomed out. Didn't hook up with any today, I'll try again this weekend probably.
I went into the Peconics and found a bunker school near Nassau Point and got one keeper on fresh chunks, and a big blue, too. Didn't take long!
Thanks for all the advice!
