BEST LURE TO USE IN THE DAYTIME

i was interesting in catching some bass/blues and was planning on tossing some lures. when fishing in the daytime (12 to 7)what is the best lure to use. i was going to use an atom popper. i have had succes with this. it is white with blue spots and has 2 treble hooks. would my spinning rod for fluke be appropriate for this fishing? (7 feet medium action with quantum blue runner 50 reel spolled with 10 pound big game)
