well after being away for the past 2 day at a 4wheeling/mud/rock crawling event i got to see some great recovery accessories. best part is i actually got to see this one in action and i was amazed...
the product is called an x-jack its a simple heavy duty bag that blows up in seconds with your exhaust system....no more dangerous hi lifts in the sand and unstable lifting! you can get them online for about 200 bucks...i may contact the manufacturer with a group buy if a couple guys on here are interested....
check out the video for yourself..

this video is a little boring but if you search you tube you will find some others...

You'd need to get an incredibly tight seal on the exhaust pipe to lift a Pathfinder, and without stalling the engine.
at the end of the hose where the exhaust hookup is theres a hard rubber..looks like a funnel but there is some sort of valve in it...we used it on an new FJ cruiser and and old FJ40 landcrusier... you did not hear any change in idle. remember the air is still comming out of the exhaust but its simply going into a bag..but im sure if you overfilled the bag (which there is a relief valve for) the motor may start to starve...if you look on you tube at some other video's the bag fills up in about 10 seconds and the truck is in the air... I could not believe how easy it was. it made changing out a tire on and bad incline pretty simple.. best part about it is it comes in a simple carriing bag that lays almost flat and wieghs about 4 lbs
