I would like to take my 2 sons on an overnight fishing trip this summer. I have a 17' runabout we trailer (just got it last year), and was thinking of maybe going upstate bass fishing. Does anybody know of a nice lake where we could launch that's not too far from Long Island. Maybe a good website?

Thanks

Not a lake, but the Hudson River and it's tributaries are usually great fishing! I fished Catskill Creek years ago and did quite well. Caught lg and small mouth bass. U can get some stripers there to. Nice ramp at Catskill Cr. Remember the Hudson has tides!

close fishing hole

You could try Lake Mahopac right out side Brewster,N.Y., it is only two hours away and is not too small. The lake has largemouth and Smallmouth Bass along with Walleye's and plenty of Panfish. They have a pay for launch right in the middle of town. Hint, get there early in the day and early in the season.

Tight Lines!!
