Everybody's got one.

Oppinions are like anal orifi - we all have them, and most of them smell most of the time. But since you asked, allow me to plop mine onto the table. When it comes to off-brand cut rate fishing equipment like this, the rule of thumb is to always assume the very worst based on any ambiguity in the description. What we have here is a blank of unmentioned composition - assume it's Chinese POS E-glass. Fuji guides of unmentioned type - assume it's cheap-ass Hardloy - certainly looks that way in the picture. They are blowing them out for $49.99 - assume that they got them for less than $20.00 wholesale. Would I spend fifty bucks + shipping on something like this? No way. I believe in getting my money's worth. Do keep in mind that the above is just a speculative oppinion I formed based on the available information, because that's what was asked. Now take a whiff.

I held one in my hand at J&H a few months ago.

Then I put it back on the rack. Has much less to recommend it than the trevala, a rod I have no great affection for.

Does it have any other uses you ask, that depends, do you grow tomatoes? :)

New rule.

See that? I can't help being right, even when by my own admision I'm talking out of my azz. From now own, I expect my oppinions to be accepted by all as the absolute and only truth. I have so spoken.

Oppinion.

I always spell it with two pees when I type. It can't be helped. Stephen King wrote a novella centered around this phenomenon. The Ballad of Flexible Bullet, or something along those lines. I don't have the time to look it up on Amazon, as I'm leaving in a minute or two to try and jig a few crappies before sunset. Yes, I know its too early, but I need some fresh air that won't make my breath steam. I'll post a report in a couple of hours.

Success!

Got the targeted species and the elusive fresh water wahoo. See, Willy? I can do no wrong.

Hope you got some slabs.

Ha nicely done--I'll have to check out my crappie hole for signs of life. Interestingly, I've only caught one of those filthy slime darts down in my neck of the woods.

Sorry for the thread jack:rolleyes:

And for the upteenth time, I've re-learned a valuble lesson. People who say that fresh water fishing is gay are wrong. Fresh water fishing isn't gay. It's ubergay. Gayer than this swan picture. Which, btw, looked like a mean fight on 8lb, but I had nothing to offer them. Oh, if only I wasn't such a cheap bastid and had spent the $799.99 on Shimano WonderBread Jigging System! Never again...

P.S. Oh, this thread had been so very jacked. Jacked with authority.

You can't call any pursuit a sport, even fishing, if you can do it with a cigarette in your mouth. This includes bowling, darts, horseshoes, yahtzee, etc.

I just love when I hear people say that they are athletes because they are in a bowling league. Eating pizza and drinking beer during the game is proof positive that your aren't engaged in athletic competition.

Just some ramblings from an old fool.

Competitive Eating Competitions are considered a "Sport"

So, would a bowler stuffing pizza down his throat at the same time
be considered a two sport athlete ?

I bought a couple of the 4'10" conventionals for friends & family for serious Kahala fishing (Hawaiian name for Amberjack). The rod is thin and surprisingly strong and I like it very much. We manage to bring in a few 30-40lb AJ and a nice 47lb White Ulua in our last outting. IMO, the Barefoot put the Trevalas to shame. And, you gotta like $49 price tag.
