I was thinking about trying my luck for herring at Hudson Park. Can anybody give me any advice on what to use to catch them?

Haven't fished for them myself, but from what I've read Sabiki rigs are the way to go.

Confused

Not being too familiar with fishing that, what is a Sabiki rig? I do most of my fishing in the Hudson River and freshwater....the only time I get to go to the ocean is on a party boat.

Any tackle shop

Just ask em for a herring rig.& an attractor.(or you could make your own)
Find a bridge or pier & jig em up.

the rig

the rig looks like a 3ft leader and ever 5 inches theres a tiny hook with white and siver fins atached. On the bottom of the rig theres a loop that u would atach a 1oz to and cast and real in fast . If there scholled up u will catch many at a time. I use this rig all the time for bait for the big boy. I also used tiny tiny jigs that u would use for fresh water and atach a tiny finess or i sometimes use the tail end like 2inch of a jelly worm.
