Have a trip scheduled for mid-April to the Atlantis resort on Paradise Island in the Bahamas. Although it's primarily a family trip, my BIL and I are looking to get some sport fishing in while we are there.

PLEASE feel free to post any advise or suggestions on how to make the most of the fishing opportunities. Specifically looking for some recommendations on charter services to work with and species to target.

Thank you in advance.

My father just walked into the door from vacation down there and he said it is way to windy to do anything. lol.. but he said they were charging 600 for 4 hours of fish!!
YIKES!!! And they said it was 125 per person if you did not charter but they were all fishing the leeward side hugging th beach and my father said they were close enough so he could cast to them....

Not sure if it's your first trip to Atlantis. Been to Atlantis 4 times with the kids. Stay there and enjoy the resort with your family especially for what you pay. I don't think the charter trip will be the first thing you talk about when you get back. I personally would not charter in Bahamas. They have occasional quality, but the bulk is a wahoo and cuda on most TOURIST FISHING CHARTERS. I like to bring a few rods and flies and go on the hunt blind. I'm going in June/ July without the kids and prefer local shore action. I also like to hook up with locals that live to fish. They will do alot for some fishing tackle.

You know it! It's windy everytime you go out wading and dead calm while you are at the pool :)

All the bonefish I've caught there were close to the shore, but if you book a guide they should take you where the schools have been feeding and you can get some shelter from the wind. As for prices, a half of day goes for about $450 if you book it at the hotel of agent they get a fee and you'll pay for that.

This is me last December in Nassau.

Love Atlantis, family fun and I get to stalk bones early in the morning.

Cheers!
