Had the pleasure of fishing with fellow Noreaster RequiemBmx (John) last night. The conditions weren't the greatest but we stilled managed a decent catch. Wind was pretty stiff from the SW, outgoing tide, water was fairly clear and not much weed, much to my surprise. We started deep in the bay and it was a little slow as the wind held up the outgoing for a while. Once the tide got going some fished showed up, but not like it has been. We picked away at small fish 24"-29", which showed a preference for long slender profile baits (ie needlefish, teasers and the like). When that slowed we moved to a different spot that was now fishable as the wind had died some. We waded out to a little hump in the channel and picked a few more fish. John hooked a nice fish that proceeded to pull him into the dreaded rebar pile, but he managed to get it out and land the fish, even with a badly shredded leader. Nice going John! After that we packed up and made another move to a nearby point that usually holds some bigger fish. We finished the night (and the tide) with a few more fish, including the 33" 13lb fish below. It was a little slow overall and you had to work for the fish, but by the end of the night we had a dozen fish or so between us. Nice fishing with you John. ps - Trying to post the pics, but the site is crapped out again! <like href="http://www.noreast.com/postedreports/view.cfm?id=83170" send="false" show_faces="false" width='layout="button_count"'></like> |
