Dear Friends

I just purchase a 20' mako boat with 110 hp motor.
I would like to fish the atlantic beach reef.

What type of fish can I catch at the reef best time to fish e.g season, tide, hour, e.g. may june july. I like to botton fish sea bass, black fish trigga fish etc.

Is a 20' mako safe to fish this reef and how many mile is it from the end of silver point jetty.

I have a loran system would hand held GPS be better for find this reef.

Could I also be able to fish the rockaway reef with this type of boat.

Thank you,

Tight line and fair weather to all.

A 20 foot boat is fine to fish either the Rockaway Reef or the Atlantic Beach reef. It's only 2-3 miles to eaither reef.Rockaway reef is due West and is in shallower water( about 40 ft). The AB reef is southeast and is about 55-60 feet of water. Both are good for Blacks, seabass, porgies and everything else. I have caught fluke up to 8 lbs on these reefs. Don't forget the Reef south, southeast of Jones Inlet. Only about a 8 miles east of Atlantic beach inlet. Always watch the weather reports
