Not sure if this is true all over but are the bass a bit late or what ?

Seems like this time last season we had steady action looking at my log book. This season has warmer temps and more bait but nothing but big blues.
So what do you think? will we have a good late season or a bust?

Last years spring run wasn't as good as previous years either. Yes we caught fish but not the quantity. It's usually the 2nd week of May till Memorial Day. The fall run was excellent last year & we caught fish all summer. Hoping for the same or better this year.

Tog-

Have not done much bass fishing outside of the JFK area in many years. Usually by mid June, my arms are tired of reeling them in. This season seems a bit off back there though. The blue demons are surely one of the reasons for that. You can hardly get a bait to a bass back there. The water was warm really early and the hordes of bluefish have taken over in the bay.

However, I have heard and seen that the fish are getting gradually bigger and the bite (bass) has been better this week. Not sure where you are doing your bass fishing but that is what I know of the JFK bite.

It is very possible that the bass have not stopped spawning. Science is not always right. They spawn in the Hudson but they are not finished, watch in a couple of weeks what happens. Two weeks ago the bass were hot in Jam Bay feeding on everything if you could get thru the bluefish an indication of Pre-Spawn stage.

Makes sense- my friend in Albany was catching stripers in the breeder size a few weeks ago.

I just read EC's article in the Noreast.com club on bassing in NY Harbor. I think he outdoes himself with each new article
.
I especially liked that line about you being able to check out hundreds of potential drops at the expense of the City :).

Steve, your true calling in this life has got to be writing
