I Think I have the very boat your looking at, but it's actually a 19.5

Great boat, I love it. lots of room, set up to fish
like a fishing machine

The glass is solid, the deck is plywood but I have no soft spots. I was cutting in some through hull fittings last year, hull glass is thick and solid. gunnel's are cored, and again very solid.

I take the boat in the ocean often, works fine. But you need to choose your days, not a boat to go out in a small craft with, you'll make it through but you will get your but kicked and you will be wet. Fun though, I scream at waves like a crazy person the whole time.

Did you have a boat in mind or are you still looking for one. I've been thinking of selling mine, I have upgraded to a 23' boat with a cabin that is yet to be splashed.

Well I've got a Wellcraft, almsot identical boats that are made by the same parent company now I believe.........It's a 24 and a bit newer than the one you're looking at, but yes very seaworthy boats as far as I'm concerned. Everything is made real well.

I have an '81 17 CC with a fairly recent repower, it's a tank. All fiberglass, they really laid it on back then. Boat does pound, and I don't back up in a following sea, otherwise performance is good and the build quality is great. Boat has pretty lines too. You could chek out this site for more info:

www.classicaquasport.com

You should be advised that the parent company discontinued the line last year, mainly because of overlap from other divisions owned by the company. They may bring it back at some point in the future. Good luck

My Dad has a 1982 Aquaport 19.5. I think it's the Osprey model. He has owned it since 1983. It is a great inshore boat but it's wet as ****. You will take evry wave over the bow if there is even the slighest chop. It has A LOT of room for a 19 footer and is much bigger than the Mako contemporary of the time. The fiberglass back then was laid on thick. The boat rides really nice and really doesn't pound. However what the boat has in a nice ride is undermined by it's wetnesss.

I've got a newer model Aquasport '03 215 Explore W/A and I'm very happy with it. Fairly solid ride, pounds a bit in a heavy chop but good on the drift in the Ocean and perfect for In shore conditions.

I know the older Aquasports were even heavier and more solid.
