I had tried Ugly Stick 10 feet once and I hooked onto a 30" ded Bluefish already filleted, so only bone left. Even so, it felt like a ton just to reel it in!
But on the other side, if you're going to use "light-weighted" swimming plug, then you must use ugly stick type rod to save strength.
one trick, if you hook a big fish, instead of reeling it in, just hold the rod and walk backwards without reeling in. try it.
P.S. If you can only use 25#, you don't want to use sinker more than 2 oz, otherwise after a few casts, the line will snap.
