I own a 12' Ugly Stik Big Water casting rod. It is a big rod and heavy but strong. I caught a 45" striper yesterday (threw her back after photo), a few 30"+ stripers, and 10lbs+ bluefish on it. I use it for bait fishing chunks and chickens. It is an inexpensive rod and just good enough for me. It got a soft spot on the tip too.
I am looking into buying a different casting later when I get money.
I like my Daiwa Sealine x rod more. It is lighter in weight and got a stiffer tip. The Ugly Stik guides are not very good. It scratches easy fishing on any hard surface like sand or rocky places.
It is an affordable rod. At least it has a long history with saltwater fishing. I like using it.
