I own a 12' Ugly Stik Big Water casting rod. It is a big rod and heavy but strong. I caught a 45" striper yesterday (threw her back after photo), a few 30"+ stripers, and 10lbs+ bluefish on it. I use it for bait fishing chunks and chickens. It is an inexpensive rod and just good enough for me. It got a soft spot on the tip too. :( I am looking into buying a different casting later when I get money.

I like my Daiwa Sealine x rod more. It is lighter in weight and got a stiffer tip. The Ugly Stik guides are not very good. It scratches easy fishing on any hard surface like sand or rocky places.

It is an affordable rod. At least it has a long history with saltwater fishing. I like using it. :)

Wader,
I use my Ugly Stik for fishing bunker chunks or chicken breasts. What part of the comments dont you understand? I hope this answers you question.

My 12' Ugly Stik is too heavy for casting lures. It is a decent rod for bait fishing for a budget cautious fisherman. It is strong enough for fighting "Gorilla" Blues and Cow Stripers.

If anyone want to give away a rod and reel, email me? I dont have much money or job. College is EXPENSIVE! I pay too much tuition. The college will not give me a scholarship eventhought I am a 3.9 GPA student. They wont said why? Always excuses.

Back to fishing... I dont hate my Ugly Stik. I wish I got a better rod like a St. Croix or one of those very good rod.

Wader, I have caught BIG Bluefish, Schoolies (Striper), Fluke, Sea Robin, and Crab on chicken.

Yesterday, I tried out my 12' Ugly Stik. I caught 4 Skates,a few Bluefish and 1 Bass. It was night yesterday night. It cast okay but livelining bunker is not good on my Ugly Stik casting rod. I think the 7' Ugly Stik casting rod is better for livelining bait.
