I missed it, while I was out today my next door neighbor cooked 12 bushels of tomatoes. His wife's sauce is incredible. Here are a few pics as they were finishing up

My mother inlaw still makes her own sauce and it is delicious, I had some today in fact. My wife unfortunately does not make half the sauce her mom makes (I hope my wife does not read this) and it looks like my future could be my wifes so so sauce or Ragu from the jar.

My grandmother also made a great sauce and it amazes me that no matter how many times I try to replicate it even with the exact recipe I fail to make it as good. I don't think anyone can replicate there grandmas sauce.

If your Italian or not watch this video.

The way it used to be

It was like watching my dads home movies. I laughed and I cried.

We did our yesterday, 10 bushels this year since we still had leftover jars from last august's batch. For the final step do they always use those wide boiling pots? We happen to use a large drum with a spigot at the bottom for drainage.

Great photos..

Joe, that vid had the same affect on me, I laughed smiled and almost cried. It reminded me of growing up on 63rd st and 10th ave in Brooklyn. The thing that got me the most was remembering waking up on sunday hung over from going out to bay ridge and smelling the garlic and onions fryin in oil. Also, the tip of the bread was eaten before i got home, ahh good ol Cangianos. I can go on and on but wont but you get the picture. My grandma made her own sauce but she is too old to do that now. That whole side of the family off President st are all over 85 yrs old now :(

Thanks alot for the memories
