I picked up the liveliner 4600, very smooth, I picked up a few fish with it in early december.
I have a 7500 ss and never liked it, but this new line feels great, aluminum body, balanced. I am not sure but I believe that the "slammer" is the same construction.

Quite honestly, I'm not big on the liveliner series. When I was playing with them at the store it didn't seen to have the automatic disengage of the baitfeeder function such as a Shimano. It seems to me that it is a manual function on these reels.

I did pick up the slammer 560 reel and absolutely love it....

Pro tackle in flushing told me that the auto release is a shimano patent, and that the companies that use it are under license to shimano

I purchased the 5600L this past season and matched it to a 9 1/2 ft.one piece G.Loomis rod. It's the first spinning reel I ever owned and like it a lot. One nice feature is the infinite anti-reverse. The rest of my surf gear is conventional casting reels.

Its definately penns best anti-reverse to date, and I like the aluminum case compared to recent graphite attempts.

Which Loomis did you get?

Had to run into the basement rod rack. The model is SUR11425/Medium, rated for 3/8 to 1 1/2oz. lures.I do all my plugging in New England and it's more than adequate.

I have an 11' GL surf series, awesome rod. and I got a salt water series spinner for the boat.
They make some of the best.

Funny you mentioned it. The fact that it had an aluminum case vs. graphite is what sold me on it.I feel your're also correct about the Loomis rods. Checked out some of theit casting series rods, but I need another casting rod like I need a hole in the head.

yeah I have to many, but I love them all like a mother hen loves her chicks. I am staying away from more gear, I just want 2 more wire setups for the boat.

ha bunkerdunker this is cat14361 can you recommend a good casting reel to me without the level wind, i already have a penn squider but looking for something lighter but durable. i will use it with my lamiglas 10ft.one piece chunck stick. 4to 12oz. are there any reels you would know of for this rod...what about a newell 229 3to1

If you can still find them, the Penn 980 Magforce reels are tough to beat.They have plenty of line capacity plus the HT 100 drag system.Next step down is the Penn 970 Magforce, less capacity though.My other reels are the Daiwa Sealine 170H with magnetic control, have several of those. The others are the Daiwa 55H and 57H. I don't believe these reels are made any longer. You might try the Penn 525 MAG. Nice reel, but the kind of weights you are thinking of slinging, you'll need a shocker, which i am not a fan of as i am primarily a plugger.
The one rig I have for lomg distance chunking is a custom stick made up on a Fenwick Big Surf Stick blank topped off with a Penn 980 Magforce loaded with 30# mono. I can tell you from experience that I have never had a crack-off, but I digress. The 525 MAG should fit the bill. Others may differ, but these are the reels that work for me.

thanks a million for the info. you have great taste in reels for casting. i also have a lamiglas mb1143m & a penn 5500ss. for pluging the beaches with 50# power pro on it. that works great for me on the beaches.
