De-winterized the boat this past weekend and thinking of heading out to the bay this Friday.

Anyone catching winter flounder or maybe even a striper in the flats area of Raritan bay?

According to this site, flounder in NJ starts March 23.

Is that correct or does it need to be updated?

flounder opens on easter sunday ,march 23.all regs are the same as last year size/limmit

I'm sure the flounder are there. Just can't keep any.

Up the matawan creek there have been some small bass all winter. We were catching them with the herring on sabiki rigs. They were taking a small jig on the end of the rig.

Just something to do.

Should have specified NJ.
Make sure you stay on the NJ side.
I hear they will be checking alot of boats this year.

I just checked and there are no fish one the nj side ,Trust me on this ny waters are loaded w/ them

I was joking,if you stay on the nj side be sure you launch out of nj and not ny ,you can not go back into ny waters w/ nj fish

Hope you didn't get a head cold.

That I know.
My boat is in a marina, can't launch.
Don't you get caught with NJ fish in NY waters, as I said I know they will be checking big time.

I do know one thing, if they put in these new NY Fluke regs, I will be going back to the Oceanic Marina in the Naversink, rent a skiff and do my Fluking there.

I've been going there for years to crab and Fluke fish.

it only cost 6-8 bucks to drive over the bridge and have alot smaller size limmit on fluke so I can see why our ramps have a bunch of ny cars in the lots.I dont fish ny waters anymore I cant see throwing back 19 inch fluke

every one of them do ,they winter over next to our dumps.I will be looking for them glow in the dark flatties in 2 weeks
