Got out at 6:30am today. Went plugging and got a nice 28" striper on my second cast. Tried for another 30 minutes raising a much bigger fish. She hit the plug two times knocking it out of the water the second time. Missed her. Went fluking until the tide turned getting several shorts and one nice 20" fish. It looked like it had a tennis ball in its stomach. When I cleaned it I found a baby flounder in its stomach. At least someone is catching flounder. I had a bucket of bellies so off I went. 1st stop caught 1 bluefish and 2 schoolies. With a strong south west wind it was tough to anchor. So I figured I'd go to the state boat channel where I did great last week. I caught a couple of small bass when a jerk in his $50,000 Grady White anchored down tide of me. Only got 2 more schoolies. Maybe between his chum and mine we scattered the fish but the fish just stopped biting. Tide slowed down so I pulled anchor and went to the 2nd wantagh for a few more short fluke. The wind was howling making drifting difficult. Time to go home and do some chores so the wife doesn't bust my chops. At least the sun was out all day.
