I never caught a "Longfin Albacore" inshore, only at the shelf. If you mean false albacore, then we should see them along the beaches when the water clears up?
It depends on what the bait does. If there's plenty of bait inshore both the longfins and yellowfins will move in with. If the bait stays offshore you'll have to go to te canyone to find them.
It also depends where your fishing from. If you are fishing out west you will never see longfins inshore maybe an acassional yellowfin. The further east you go the quicker you get to deeper water. Thats how its been for the last 7- 10 years. The last time i caught a yellowfin with steady action inside of 30 fathoms out of moriches inlet was back in 1994. Montauk boats have it the best with a quick run to 40 fathoms and some good fishing. ANd it all depends on the bait which we have alot of right now but no fish. Just dirty green water. But hey you never know. Good luck.
