PSI RATING

The rating on your tire is Maxx PSI. If your not hauling heavy weight you need not run that high on a daily basis. I found this out by speaking to reps. of differant tire companies as well as the shop I buy them from.

My tires are rated for 50 psi (too hard). I keep them at 32-35 psi and air down to 15-18 psi with my preset trailhead tire deflaters.

Never had a problem and it does not change the lifespan of the tires.

Im sure some people will have other advise, so take it all in then make your chioce

Chevy if your there where can I get a hold of those de-flators?

I'm down to 18 in front and 20-25 with a slide on camper on the back..not sure how far down to go without spinning a bead on the rears//

I would start trials @ 20-25lbs and drop from there. What kind of tires are they? What is the sidewall rating? C D or E? These rating affects how hard the side walls are which in turn affects how the tires belly out when you deflate them. Are they passenger rated P or LTX? You want to get the side wall to roll out but you don't want to pop the bead.

Try dropping the pressure by 50% then see how it goes on the beach and fine tune. I have my deflators set to 18 PSI for my expedition with stock tires and this works real well under most conditions. If it's real soft you need to drop it down manually.

i dont like them becuase the air comes out of both the hole and the adjustable valve... and when it psi gets low it still lets air out but if you just tap your finger on the valve it stops all of a sudden..the staun just seem more heavy duty to me but the trail heads are cheap and i will probaly still continue to use them...its nice the throw them on and your waders at the same time

Not to say you are wrong, but I wouldn't go to 8lbs on my truck. all trucks weigh in differently and even two similar trucks w/different rated tires will pop beads at different psi-plus external factors such as terrain- hard pack vs soft sand- holes, rocks, plovers, logs etc. You could be running soft pack and hit something-it may not pop the bead but ya could get a flat or bent rim. my truck weighs in 8600 empty-I won't go below 20 unless I have to pull someone out of my way cuz they didn't belong out there

8lbs is a little low for the beach..being that most of us drive 10 or above its unsafe..when i go rock crawling at raush creek in PA or what used to be paragon there where cases where i had to go to 5 to get up an rock. i would go 8 if you driving up jetties (just dont go over the other side) its fine a t slow 4lo locked diff speeds but nothing else

4 options

1- install a onboard compressor in your truck

2- only go to beaches with on site compressors-- ( Demo has them)

3- Drive slow to the nearest gas station

4- If you are close enough, drive home and fill up there

What's out there for this purpose? Economically of course...not necessarily piker cheap though.
