I'm flying into Acapulco on the 16th of Feb and have 8 days. I plan on heading south. Has anyone been down there fishing, anywhere between Acapulco to Huatulco, in the last week or two? Does anyone have that name of a local commerical fisherman from south of Puerto Escondito?

Feb is tuna month in that area.
Should have acres of football size fish on top.
Outside shot at some sails and marlin.
Yellowtail will be around.

There are flights into Huatulco, not cheap though.

Most of the commercials in that area,
gill net inshore or fish longline offshore for shark.

Sport fishing boats once you get south of Acapulco get limited.
Pangas are about $175-200 for a full day.

Huatulco

I fished the area for many years --- I wanted to fly into Escondito or Huatulco but for some reason, things have changed a bit with the airlines and its difficult to get into either of those towns in one day out of NYC: most flights arrive too late into Mexico City to catch the last flights out. So, I decided to fly into Acapulco, get a car and then drive south. Upon my return, I'll post a report.
