does anyone fix these reels locally. One of the thumb screws cracked. The side opened a little and i'm sure salt water and sand got in there. I'm also thinking of a new reel either the abu garcia big game 10000 i or the newell 344.5. this is for the surf and for a 12 ft rod. what reel do you guys think is the best. I really like my 7000c3.

Try calling Causeway about replacing thumb screw.I've never had one break so I can't help you about replacing it.But I can tell you that size reel with drag upgrade to the carbon fiber drag washers is all you need for the beach even if you tossing 8 n bait.The 10000 size is way to big a reel-heavy and I don't think they cast very well.Good luck

Abu thumb screw.

Sea Isle in Freeport is now an authorized Abu repair center.I beleive you have to buy the sideplate to get the thumb screws.
