SEMINAR 1: BLACKFISHING
DATE: APRIL 29, 2008 WHERE: ABOARD THE CELTIC QUEST, PORT JEFFERSON NY, WITH CAPTAIN DES OSULLIVAN AND CREW
THIS INCLUDES A FULL-DAY ON THE WATER SEMINAR ON A TOP NOTCH BOAT FROM THE TRI-STATE AREA. THE SEMINARS WILL INCLUDE GUEST CAPTAINS AND NOREASTS VERY OWN CAPTS FROM ? IN THE WHEEL HOUSE?, CAPT. STEVEN CANNIZZO AND CAPT. MIKE MARKS ( AKA EC NEWELL MAN,TOGMASTER)

THE TRIP WILL INCLUDE A FULL DAY ON THE WATER WITH HANDS ON INSTRUCTIONS AS WELL AS BREAKFEAST AND DRINKS. THE TRIP WILL BE LIMITED TO 24 PEOPLE PER TRIP. WE ARE LIMITING THE PARTICIPANTS TO ASSURE ALL THOSE GET TRUE HANDS ON FROM THE TACKLE TO THE DECK TO ACTUALLY BEING IN THE WHEEL HOUSE.
YOU WILL LEARN SECRECTS AND YEARS OF EXPERICE IN THIS SEMINAR. WE WILL SHOW YOU HOW TO ANCHOR, HOW TO USE YOU?RE ELECTRONICS, TACKLE SELECTION, RIGS, EVEN A QUICK NOTE ON SIDE WINDERS, AS WELL AS BAIT, AND ALL THE OTHER QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE. INCLUDED WILL BE A FEW HOURS OF FISHING TIME TO APPLY YOUR LESSONS WITH THE PROS TO GUIDE YOU BY YOUR SIDE.
GROUPS WILL BE BROKEN UP INTO DIFFERENT ZONES TO ACCOMODATE A CLOSE HANDS- ON ASPECT FOR ALL. THE SERIES WILL START WITH THE MOST DEMANDED FISH IN THE TRI-STATE AREA, THE TOG.

THE EVENT WILL BE IN ORDER OF SIGN UP WE WILL TRY TO ACCOMANTE AS MANY CHARTES AS POSSIBLE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE TO FILL THE DAYS NEEDED.

THE DATES

I have 2 days to give a better offer to all when the time comes and we do get enough we will then decide the date
As far as a weekend I don't think this will happen.
Reason being the cost. The cost of the boat on a weekend is double the cost and i want to make it a fair rate like last season.

This is a rare chance to learn the ins and outs of tog fishing
Those that attended last year were very content with the seminar and hopefully we repeat this agin with even more info then last time

When we hit the 20 Mark Iwill conforim the trip so anyone intrested please Pm me or reply to this post

The price

I am getting many pms' on the price

The price last season was 125.00 per person
I expect it to be in that ball park with a possible increase due to fuel cost. We have no control over the fuel prices but I will tell you it won?t be much more at all.
I am expecting 10 to tops 25 dollar increase just to let you know

Another note to remember here is you will be able to get in on the last week of Togging till Oct. As those on the trip recall we did manage fish this time of season which is just an added bonus. If we did this later in the spring we would not be able to fish for tog the season is closed

Those wanting to release there fish are welcomed as well .

We will be showing actually venting techniques this time around and proper fish handling for best survival rate.
Those coming I encourage you to bring a long fish degausser as well

Glad to see a lot of you signing up for this trip. We had a great time last year and I hope this year will be even better!

This is a excellent opportunity to learn some great insights into blackfishing and boat operation in general. Mike and Steve are a wealth of knowledge and really take time out to teach and answer any questions. I certainly enjoyed listening to them!

Whether you are a novice or a veteran, I guarantee you will learn from this day. Just being around other fisherman, comparing ideas is such an important way to improve your game.

Hi all,

Did someone say Tog Seminar?? Yeah baby I'm there!!!

I appreciate the invite to sail on that trip and look forward to being there. I will bring several rods that can be tested by the attendees. Lamiglas came out recently with new blanks for tog and big fish use. I will have them with me also for you to flex/pull on. These blanks are not readily available locally.

It is great news that RodWinder Ralph will be with us. Ralph is a tremendous good angler and also an excellent rod designer/craftsman. Better yet is that he willingly shares his hard earned with all of us.

Check the date, sign up, anticipate, anticipate and be ready for an all encompassing knowledge opportunity.

GREAT RAFFLE ADDED TO THE SEMINAR

Well looks like this years Raffle price which is included in the price of the charter will be a Custom made Rod from RODWINDER. This will be a Lami blank TOG ROD as well and the raffle will be given away at the end of the seminar. The rod will be available for all on board to try out as well.
Capt. Neil will be bringing many rods as well as new prototype that are not yet available in the stores
If you ever wanted a custom rod now is your chance to learn what is right for you and actually try it out in use during the seminar. There will be food and beverages as well.

If there is something you like to learn whether you run your boat on your own or fish on a private or charter / party boat all will be discussed. We will answer questions and stand by your side and give pointers as you get to try out your newly learned info
Last season this was done for the first time with great success. I cannot urge anyone interested to come along for a seminar like no other you have ever been to or herd of.
