Here is a little bit of data I came across some years back. It should be of particular interest to those brilliant individuals who build a house on a sand bar and expect the taxpayers to put it back when it washes away.

If you look at the charts today you will see that the leads to these inlets still exist in the bays and off shore. When ever a storm gives us a washover it is usually at the location of one of these old inlets.
