Looking for some info on these motors. I may buy a boat that has these motors with plans on a repower. Does anyone know where I can have work done on them and where to get parts if possible. John

dont do it

RUN!!!!!!!!
do not do it, these are throw away motors. I own them I have been there done that. 30K later i still have so so motors that are not reliable. noone can rebuild these. I tried, I paid Expert diesel reman of Roseville Michigan 16K to rebuild them only to get 1.4 miles before it ate a piston. He even screwed up 4 motors for johnson and towers.
Go to boatdiesel.com and look into thse motors. there are happy owners, but to buy a 20+ year old problematic motor is foolish at best, unless you want to buy my boat.
Seriously, PM me, I will give you all the info you need.

I can't agree more. It is not worth the chance on known problem engines.

junk

I am an equipment mechanic for a large construction company, and we have a couple of those engines kicking around in various types of equipment.(sweepers, vac trucks, etc.) I wouldn't take one if you gave it to me.really dirty engines, worse than the two strokes.Youv'e been warned by a couple people.I'd steer clear!
