Looking to buy a 6 foot fast action spinning rod for my wife for schoolie bass and coctail blues. We fish from a private boat. Need to be able to cast at leat one ounce lures. Any suggestions?
ps Rod has to be light in weight,as her arms are not too strong to hold a heavy spinning rod too long. It's a birthday gift so cost is flexible. Also can you recommend a good light weight spinning reel that can hold 17 pound or so mono line.
Thanks,
Jerry

Jerry try fishermans depot I see you live in flushing....

A graphite rod should do the trick..St croix or shimano....

If you looking for a custom a GUSA SW70MH or a Calstar GF700XLH are great rods..

The Custom can be cut down to any lenght you like...They start out 7'..I also have a Shikari musky blank 6'10" I use for bass fishing..

The factory rods start at 6'...A St Croix Bass/Pike/Saltwater 10-20 lb line 6' blank # is 2C60MHF...I dont know the rod #..I have a factory St Croix 6'6" I use for bass there great rods ..You can try Causways B/T on Merrick Rd..They have a great selection of St Croix rods..Shimano too...

You may find it a little harder to find a spin rod over a conventional..Spin is not the most popular type of rod used in the north east..
