4x4 Permits and fishing from the beach.

With the 4x4 permits, all beaches have easy access. All the beaches are productive when you are there at the right time, the right conditions and have the right presentation. Exactly when this mystical tri-fecta of situation comes together is what all of us surf rats pursue. Good luck hunting.

Demo is an excellent location if you are not familiar with beach access. It is easily identifiable on most maps. See attached image.

Is that the piping plover area in flames? I figured someone would finally snap.

Beach access

Hi sushidatup

If you are new to the 4wd beach world, I HIGHLY recommend that you join LIBBA: http://www.libba.com/ or at the very least, take one of their beach driving courses.

Go to LIBBA's website, and click on the "Beach Info" link, you will find lots of info on state, county and town beach access on Long Island.

Access points are in Suffolk county: The county permit covers Smith's Point, Cedar Point Park, Shinne**** East County Park , Cupsogue Beach County Park, etc See the county parks website:
http://www.co.suffolk.ny.us/Home/departments/parks/Parks.aspx
Or more specifically: http://www.co.suffolk.ny.us/Home/departments/parks/Off Roading.aspx
Here is another link: http://www.co.suffolk.ny.us/Home/departments/parks/Beach Conditions Update.aspx

NY State offers permits for beach access as well:

Another good source of info:

The single most important thing when you go out on the sand is to AIR DOWN your tires. If you don't, you deserve what you get.
I have seen so many newbies get stuck up to their hubs in the sand due to not airing down that it isn't funny. I have also seen more than one loose their truck to the ocean or fire from not airing down or just generally doing stupid things. It all can be avoided by being smart, airing down, going slow, bringing at least the required equipment and learning from those who know.

See this: http://www.noreast.com/postedreport...pe_ID=0&startRecord=1&orderby=date&daysold=30

Be smart, be safe, be courteous to others while out there.

Good luck,
Dave
