The rocky mountain shale oil reserves hold an equivalent reserve of 800 BILLION barrels of recoverable oil. At current consumption in the US, that is over 100 years worth and 3 times the proven oil reserves in Saudi Arabia.

fish, oil shale is rock, similiar to coal. It is open strip mined. You need 1 TON of rock processed to give you only 30 barrells of oil. Think how much oil it would take to dig up a ton of rock, get it to the processing plant, and drain it of it's measly 30 barrells of oil.,,,

Oil shale is feasible right now with curent oil prices. We have customer trying to get into the business, but congress won't let them.

It would take very little to dig up and process a ton of rock. Once again, you know not of what you speak. We make a machine that can dig up and load 100 tons of rock in one pass of the scoop. We make trucks that can move 400 tons of rock at one time. The processing plants would be built within 1/2 mile of the mine. Oil from oil shale mining is competitive will drilled oil right now at today's prices. There are coporation out there ready, willing and able to start doing it and build the infrastructure and equipment nescessary. The only thing stopping it right now is the U.S. Congress.

Isn?t much of the oil Canada?s produces from shale or oil sands?

I know they drill traditionally up by the Artic Circle, but if I remember correctly they are producing a lot of oil via other methods.

I don't know about "a lot" but they are producing oil from shale. Not a big operation yet, but it is growing.
