What is the best knot when tying Braid to a 3 way?
I have been using a Palomar knot however, it's a real pain getting the loop around the other tackle. Are there any other options?

My current system is to first tie the three way to the spooled braid, then tie the Buck Tail and then the weight loop. I can't pre-rig for trips this way.

ideas?

you can tie the braid with a uni to the three way and i use 100 lb mono from the 3 way to the buck tail.and 40 lb mono to the sinker with a loop if you want to pre tie you can tie a snap to the braid and pre tie the 3 way to the buck tail and sinker loop.i think i would tie every thing at the boat cause i hate un tangling stuff they only take a few minits to rig up just my prefrence.

I have never had a problem with an improved clinch knot to my terminal tackle. Just wrap it 8 or 9 times and make sure it is tied well and it will stay tight. Another tip is to thread it twice through the swivel. Less of a stress point then a single threading.

This way you can pre-tie your rigs for easy replacement.

If you use braid to mono then mono to the terminal tackle you will save yourself a lot of time untangling. Braid is a nightmare when tied directly to terminal tackle .

I agree with Dan shock leader is the way to go when fishing braid.

I always use a double uni to a shock leader of choice and a snap swivel at the end of the shock leader. It makes it easy to change when ever you want, and I since i seem to be high hook 50% of the time, i guess it doesn't scare fish off.

Fluke?

If your using the 3 way for fluke rigging and use the 3-way for the top hook, I use a bimini to double the braid and then a modified double line, improved clinch. 8 tight turns up, 2 down and through the first loop and then cross over loop. I use the 3 way when using 5-8 oz fluke balls and a double hook rig only. when ultra-lite fishing, I prefer an improved clinch to improved clinch using the tag end of the leader for the top hook and the botton end for the buck or fluke ball and no 3 way.

i double the line like ihavegills using a spider hitch (but i might try that triple surgeon knot i just saw in sws). the spider hitch isn't 100% like the bimini but at 5 turns its pretty close. i then tie the three way on with a palomar before i put on the leader.

another way to go is to use dropper loops and duolocks instead of a 3 way. you get a lot less drag and can use less lead.
