Saltwater Fishing Regulations
These regulations are effective January 31, 2008.
Laws and regulations are frequently amended by the Legislature or DEC. You should check with the Bureau of Marine Resources to ensure that the requirements set forth in this notice remain in effect. Links to the actual text of the marine finfish regulations (Part 40) are in the Related Links column to the right. The actual text for the lobster and crabs regulations (Part 44) are available there, too. A link to the print version of these regulations is also available in the column to the right.

Special note for summer flounder (fluke) and scup: The 2008 regulations for summer flounder (fluke) and scup have not yet been approved. Please check this page for updates. There will be a recreational fluke season in 2008.

went to get my fishing permits today and saw posted regs for fluke as " no possession " did I miss something, is this old news? or should I go get my money back?
Go to the fisheries management board or the general fishing board and look around there. I think you will get your answer there. Here you will just get grief and silly answers.
