Hi,
I primarily surfcast on North Shore of Nassau County with plugs for bass/blues. I am interested in expanding my horizons to Jones Beach area this summer and fall. Looking for advice.

What parking field do I park at ? Do I need a permit. What is the best time of the year ? Plugs to use ?

You need a nite fishing permit after dark. You can get it at the administration building at field 4 or Belmont Lake Park. You cant get it til after Labor Day. West End 2 is a great spot. Park in the northwest corner and walk back up the entrance ramp about 100 yards to a trail on the left. Procede thru the dunes being careful not to go into the bird area. I believe it is still marked for fishermen. This takes you to the inlet. You can stay back here or walk south to the jetty and the open surf. Field 6 is also good, however the easy access attracts a crowd which always includes several morons.
