I've been following the thread on Blackfish, and after last weeks trip to Robert Moses, it seemed that nearly everyone was fishing for Blackfish except me. So this time I went for the gold!

Now being a 1st year rookie fisherman I've never fished for Blackfish before. I started off using the crabs that I caught during the summer at Captree with poor results. Then I switched to Green crabs, still no hits.

I was fishing with Rich and his son who I met last week. Rich showed me how to remove the hard shell and properly hook the crab. 2nd drop next to the dock yeilded several nibbles and a lost crab to a blackfish. Next green crab yeilded a 14 1/2 inch Blackfish. What a great fight they put up! Can't wait to go back this Saturday with my son.

Hey Tracker, congrats on the fish were you fishing from the dock? i lived in selden for many years and fishing cedar beach in mount sianai and did very well of the beach and dock there. try it if you get the chance. they fight real good. they are alittle bigger on the north shore. good fishing dave
