Blackfish Tempura

1 Whole Blackfish filleted and cut into bite size pieces.

Blackfish Marinade –

1 tsp Chili Garlic Sauce (Tuong Ot Toi Vietman)
1/4 cup Soy Sauce (low sodium)
1 tsp Nathan’s Mustard
3 tbsp Lemon Juice
2 tbsp Sesame Oil

Mix all ingredients into a mixing bowl that has a lid. (Mix well) Cut Blackfish filets into bite size pieces (about 1 ½ inch squares) marinade for 45 minutes in the fridge with the lid on the bowl, make sure all the pieces are well coated with the marinade.  

Batter Mix -

3/8 cup Flour
1/8 cup Cornstarch
1/4 tsp Baking Powder
1/8 tsp Baking Soda
1 Egg White
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 cup Water
1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
1 tsp Parsley
1/2 tsp Paprika

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and mix until well blended.

Final Prep -

Dip marinated fish pieces in flour and coat each side, then dip fish in batter and fry in vegetable oil until golden brown. Put pieces in one at a time so they don’t stick together. Place fried fish on paper towels to drain off excess oil. Serve hot
