Fished on a 31 down east near Newport RI. Terrible sw wind and rain made for a lumpy wet day. We hit a few drops. The first drop had instant action and yielded many nice keepers for all. jigs outfished traditional rigs., as the wind shifted west it kinda blew us off our chunck so off too our second drop. We had some action but it became a slow pick in afternoon. The tog would come in flurries as they often do on rocks. By days end we had a 6 fish a man limit with togs up to 8 lbs. Most were solid fish 3-5 lbs. We fished 2-4oz all day in 30-53ft of water. Longer leaders seemed to work better as the fish were just mouthing the baits. great time fishing for togs on fluke tackle.
