Started out enroute to Christmas shop. Never made it, nowhere to park in the mall.....so 'THE CAR' took me directly to Captree Overlook Pier. 50+ degrees under a warm setting sun and the herring were there. Though not in numbers it was still fun....... until I snagged the bottom and lost my only rig. OUCH!

Left Captree and 'THE CAR' took me east on Sunrise, instead of west, and I wound up in J&H Outlet in Oakdale where I bought enough sabikki rigs ($1.99ea)to last a lifetime (I hate running out!).

Instead of going home, I go back to Captree @ sunset and the wind is building and noone is fishing the Overlook Pier so I go to the backside pier (North side) and start catching the herring again.

Anyway, the best part is at the beginning when I hear a commotion which is way too loud for herring so I look over my shoulder and watch as a fishing couple help a young guy land what appears to me to be a KEEPER Bass onto the pier! The kid was fishing the east end of the pier, on the end of the outgoing, with a live herring, and this bass tried to take him out the inlet. You had to see and hear the excitement of this guy. I just stood there thinking (Dec 23 and I'm not only fishing, but I witnessed a keeper bass being landed.)

I went back to my herring and probably caught at least 40 or so, which I gave to the guy next to me who was fishing with his son. I do C&R with these guys (herring) unless there is someone close by trying for tablefare.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!
