Fishing method Boat
« Previous Report Next Report »

Went out on a Party boat from sheepshead bay for porgies and black sea bass. On the first drop water was a bit choppy and winds were picking up, so down goes the bait, 2.5 hrs later up comes a 7" black sea bass which was safely returned. Hopefull that it's a sign of life rebait and down it goes again. One small porgie than nothing else. Seen one other fare keeping 2 short 4" & 7" sea bass. Second drop produced nothing Capt kept trying to position the boat but the fish just weren't there. Just happy that I didn't have to work. A bad day's fishing is better than a good day at work!

Too many people keeping short seabass, you did the right thing. I got some looks the other day throwing back one after another.

Considering you are fishing one day after a tropical storm blew by offshore, you are probably lucky to catch that. Give it a couple of days for the bottom to settle from any afteraffects and the fishing will probably pick up.
