Searched all over Hempstead, East of Matinecock, Captains, then finally settled in on some very lose bunker schools for 3 small blues, a 32" Striper kept for the table, and 30" Striper released. The bunker was very losely packed. To bad it was perfect night to spot the schools just an occaisonal splash every now and then for me. I hope tommorow night it's back to the way it was last week.

Hey Jets, good post. I was out, mid-sound near Hempstead, similiar results. Very few splashes of bunker. It was like a lake out there, i thought we'd see bunker for sure.

Yeh i just wonder if the rain had something to do with it and maybe it will come back to the way it was last week, b/c even the bluefish bite was slower then last week. If not this is too short of a run compared to last year we had fish for weeks. The fish are there b/c even added to the two stripers landed we had several run-offs that were from stripers. It seemed the action picked up about 9:30 p.m.. I think high tide was midnight so maybe the water just needed to be moving alittle more. It also seemed that as we chunked harder the bites became more frequent they might have just needed more incouragement. Hopefully.

I agree. We stayed out till 11pm expecting the tide to get a little stronger, but it never did. Chumming heavily definately helps. Tight lines.
