Pulled out of the slip tonight at dead low. I was going to head west but the chop sucked and didn't feel like having another crappy ride in so we just hung around the mouth of Hempstead Harbor. There were two other boats in the same area didn't see them with much action but got the old skunk not even a nibble. We were chunking the water real good but nothing. I would have liked to stay out a little longer and get a little closer to high tide but the wind really kicked up so we packed it in, and still had a crappy ride in just a shorter one.

What kind of bait where use using?
Was it fresh?
Did you see schools of bunker around and where?

Thanks

I was baiting with fresh bunker. And chunking the water with frozen. I thought I saw a few small bait schools on the fish finder but you never know with the wind lately it could have just been debris or sea weed that got kicked up. I saw no schools of bunker on top of the water but again with the wind there was a nice chop going with white caps so they would be very hard to find if there was any. I think the lack of bite was from a me fishing a bad part of the tide. I had one keeper tuesday night but I was fishing west of hemp. harbor. But I think after this weather moves through the fishing should pick up big time. The hudson river reports look good for us anyway.
