Hit Gilgo earlier this morning 0330-0630, end of slack start of the ebb, and decided to break all my own rules. When I toss bait it's always rod in hand, no spike. Set up 2 sticks today, clams on one and fresh bunker on the other and left them in the spikes. Bunker beat out the clams 2-0, first fish on was a cocktail blue.... and sure enough later on when I turned my back to set up a new chunk I never saw the other rod bending over to the max!! .. Dropped everything and picked up the rod just as the spike was ready to get yanked out of the sand, the drag was "a screamin" as line was being peeled off ... After a couple of real sweet runs and one hell of a nice fight, I landed my biggest bass ever from the suds, a 26# sweet sweet beauty!!!

Otherwise, water clean, 5oz holding fine, light NW breeze, great morning.

Happy Fathers Day guys,

Tight lines & screamin' drags
